Sensex up 56 points; Nifty holds 9900 17/07/2017 13:13

The key domestic benchmark indices were trading in green during the noon trading session amid buying in index heavyweights. Investors remained optimistic with start of Monsoon Session of Parliament today. The Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to be dominated by issues such as cow vigilantism, farmers' protests, Kashmir unrest, action of law enforcement agencies against some opposition leaders over alleged corruption, and India's stand-off with China . At 13:15 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 32077.01 up by 56.26 points or by 0.18 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 9907.2 up by 20.85 points or by 0.21 per cent.

The bourses were also getting some support with the latest edition of the OECD’s economic outlook report on India, stating that economic growth is projected to remain strong and India will remain the fastest growing G20 economy.

In the bullish trade so-far, BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 32131.92 and intraday low of 32053.98 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 9920.3 and intraday low of 9894.7. The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 268.50,+3.47%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1401.75,+1.78%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 380.95,+1.64%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1555.35,+1.59%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 984.60,+1.29%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 328.80,-2.49%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 248.55,-0.80%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 510.00,-0.60%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1133.20,-0.57%), State Bank of India (Rs. 290.00,-0.55%), among others.

Among the sectors, IT index was at 10151.9 up by 100.3 points or by 1%. Rolta India Ltd. (Rs. 62.15,+5.61%), Ramco Systems Ltd. (Rs. 391.60,+4.07%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 268.50,+3.47%), Mastek Ltd. (Rs. 294.00,+2.89%), Sonata Software Ltd. (Rs. 164.00,+2.18%),.

On the flip side, FMCG index was at 10649.64 down by -162.43 points or by -1.5%. Venky's (India) Ltd. (Rs. 2035.05,-5.60%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 328.80,-2.49%), Prabhat Dairy Ltd. (Rs. 137.25,-2.21%), Dabur India Ltd. (Rs. 297.50,-2.12%), KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 31.05,-2.05%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2665 , shares advanced were 1298 while 1228 shares declined and 139 were unchanged.
